At ABCD Daycare, baking is one of our favorite ways to mix learning and fun (and yes, sometimes a little flour ends up everywhere). Baking gives kids a hands-on way to explore new skills, practice patience, and feel proud of what they helped create.

Learning You Can Taste

Baking naturally builds early learning skills without feeling like “schoolwork.” As children help measure, pour, stir, and scoop, they’re practicing:

  • Following directions and listening skills

  • Early math concepts like counting and measuring

  • Fine motor skills through stirring, pouring, and mixing

  • Patience and self-control while waiting for treats to bake

  • Confidence from contributing to a shared project

Teamwork in the Kitchen

Baking is also a social activity. Children learn to take turns, help friends, and work together toward a delicious goal. It’s a simple way to build responsibility and positive interaction, while making memories they’ll talk about all week.

What We Bake

Our baking activities are age-appropriate and simple, and may include items like:

  • Muffins, bread, or rolls

  • Cookies and seasonal treats

  • Kid-friendly snack recipes

  • Holiday or themed baking days

Food Notes & Allergies

We take allergies and nutrition needs seriously. If your child has specific dietary requirements, parents may be asked to provide accommodations so everyone can participate safely and comfortably.

Baking days are a sweet part of our routine, helping children learn, laugh, and build life skills one sprinkle at a time.
